We travel a lot. My family lives five hours south, my in-laws live three hours west, and my husband and I love to hike in new places. Did I mention we have three dogs that tag along on our adventures? And an eleven-month-old? It seems we’re never home on the weekends; we’re always go, go, go. We have mastered packing tight for the road trips (shout out to my husband for being incredible at suitcase Tetris).
While we’ve mastered the suitcases and the toy bags—for the baby and the dogs, of course—I’m always looking for new and creative ways to keep us all fueled for the journeys. It’s important to me that I find things that are quick, easy, mess-free, and filling. Things that will satisfy my husband’s high protein intake needs, my soon-to-be-toddler’s expanding palate, and my habit of snacking every three hours. I don’t particularly like relying on fast food on the road; I much prefer to have food prepared for my family. Harvest Creek Chicken Pouches have been my on-the-go go-to for so many delicious reasons.
These pouches are so compact. When it comes time to pack the snack bag, they take up so little room. Not only is this fantastic for our already stuffed car, but it’s also great for when we’re out hiking! I slide a few into my backpack, and when we’re ready for a snack break on the trail, we all get our own to tear into. Literally. They have an easy-tear opening, so I don’t have to stress about the added space of Tupperware or a can opener.
They don’t have to be refrigerated, so I don’t have to worry about a cooler. Packing a cooler in our already tight car would just add stress. On top of that, when we do finally reach our destination, I can focus on running the dogs or helping the baby stretch instead of being concerned about putting food away immediately. It gives me time to take a breath. Everything can stay in the car for a moment while we all adjust.
The pouches are mess-free—unless given to an uncoordinated toddler. Tear it open and dig in. Use a fork or (this is my favorite way) go straight in with some crackers. You can use whatever you prefer as a dipping utensil. Crackers, bell peppers, celery sticks, carrots—the options are endless.
While there are so many ways that Harvest Creek Chicken Pouches can help lighten your load, these are a few reasons they’ve helped my family. Finding good food on the road is tough, and Harvest Creek has made it so much easier.
